TCS School Reopening Information and New Start Date

Dear Trinity Family,

This has certainly been a trying time. We have missed our students during the extended absence from our building. Based on guidance from federal, state, and local authorities, we are looking forward to resuming on-site instruction. In fact, Dr. Virginia Caine, Director of the Marion County Health Department says "We feel, based on the science and the numbers that we are seeing now, in terms of where we are with this epidemic, that it's okay for schools to reopen."

It is our firm belief that there is no substitute for the quality of in-person instruction. However, an off-site virtual learning experience may be offered on a case by case basis. Please contact Mr. Carroll to discuss the possibility of this option for your child if desired.

That being said, the school is taking a number of precautions to help maintain the health and safety of our staff and students. Some of these steps are:

  1. Face Forward Instruction

  2. To the extent possible, social distanced classrooms

  3. At the earliest possible date, touchless water bottle fill stations will be installed. Students will be provided with a reusable water bottle to start the year.

  4. Enhanced cleaning and sanitation procedures implemented.

  5. Face masks will be required as they are currently required by order of the Mayor of Indianapolis. This policy will be revisited as needed. Regardless students and staff will be required to have a mask in their possession at all times. The school will provide each student with a reusable face mask to start the year. It is understood that certain medical conditions may prevent a student or staff member from wearing a mask.

  6. Visitors into the building will be restricted. Where possible, conferences will be virtual.

  7. Staff and students will be asked to perform daily self-screening for covid-19 like symptoms.

  8. Increased hand washing opportunities and hand sanitizing stations throughout the school.

  9. Meal service will remain in the cafeteria with enhanced social distancing and sanitation parameters.

  10. Sick students must be fever free for 72 hours before returning to school.

  11. We will not be hosting our annual Back to School Day.

  12. One direction walking paths where possible.

This list is certainly not exhaustive, and this situation is constantly changing. Families will be kept up to date with further information. It was our original intention to begin this school year on Monday, August 10, 2020. However, in order to better ensure that our new procedures and upgrades to our building are in place, we will be pushing that start date to Monday, August 17, 2020.
